Imagine a world where countries had a genuine overriding concern about improving the well-being of their people, accepted the assets and cards that they were dealt, and collaborated and compromised with other countries with appreciation and respect for each others’ interests. Politicians’ egos were set aside, and fairness and harmony between countries standardised. We are ultimately a collective and it would benefit our societies in the long-term to treat each other this way.

It would mean state resources could be concentrated purely to benefit its people, taxation substantially reduced and the well-being of the public dramatically improved. There would be less division, more collaboration and a much more pleasant way of life for its people – who politicians are supposed to serve.

Unfortunately, international law is designed in a way that powerful countries and their politicians can do as they wish and often get away with it. It is deeply flawed.

War serves nobody in the long-term but it could take another world war for many of our politicians to be reminded of this.

Countries, groups, people etc. who are only self-serving without consideration for others nearly always end up in isolation or develop animosity from others, living life in defence (as the likes of the US, Russia, Iran and many others do – just look at their military spending). This is not sustainable in the long-term if our governments want to maximise their positive internal impact.
